On this Guided Fishing Charter this fishergirl netted herself a forty pound chinook! Already the day had been jam packed with double headers and non stop action. But we still had one fish to catch! As we were making a turn to head back along our tack the rod tip started to dance and then bam! Off the clip it went just as she grabbed the rod out of the holder. With barely a second to set herself up the reel began to rip and line peeled. No one knew at that time how big this fish was going to be. But boy did it dance! At one point even flashing out of the water about 150′ behind the boat. Still unable to determine the size she continued to play the fish. Letting it run when it needed to and reeling like mad when it decided to make a run for the boat!
Finally the fish was close enough to shut the trolling motor off and focus on bringing it to the boat for netting. The fish had other ideas, diving down beneath the boat and then dancing close to the motors. Played perfectly by the angler she was finally able to bring the fish close enough to net. As he scooped this “hawg” as large fish are affectionately called into the net and lifted it into the boat the smile on everyone’s faces said it all.
